In this introductory workshop, we will just learn the basics of this free software for creating audio files that can be attached to a variety of other technologies as narration or can stand on their own. We will create and use the simple editing features–nothing complex or advanced–and take a look at a few ways that you can use such files in your courses.

Audacity has been downloaded on the AEC computers, so you do not need to do anything in advance. You do not need an account with Audacity. To download the software in your office, access the Software Center under Tri-C Resources in the Windows programs menu.

SoundCloud is available as a mobile app and on the web and allows you to record as much as 2 hours of audio in the free account. It might be just what you need in some instances.
